Licensing & Inspection Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Can I conduct my business from my home?

You must apply to the Middletown Township Zoning Officer for an accessory use to your residence. Requirements vary by type of use. (Chapter 27, Part 23 A & B)

Am I required to display my house number?

Yes. Police, fire and emergency personnel need to see your address clearly from the street. Your life may very well depend on emergency personnel being able to quickly locate your home.

Am I required to mow my grass?

Yes, you may not allow your grass or weeds to exceed twelve (12") inches in height.

Can I keep my vehicle on my property or in the street, even though it is not licensed or inspected?

A vehicle is considered abandoned either in the street or on your property if after ten days it is not properly licensed and inspected or is not operable (no engine, no wheels, windows missing). The vehicle must be removed from the property or put it in your garage so that it is not visible from a street or neighboring properties.

Can I keep my truck, which I use for work and transportation to and from work, at my home?

No trailers, trucks or truck trailers with a gross vehicle weight in excess of 14,000 pounds can be kept in a residential area either in the street or on your property. Gross vehicle weight is defined as the weight of your vehicle plus the load weight it is authorized to pull or carry. This information is found on your vehicle registration card. This does not include recreational vehicles.
